8 Simple Ways for Students to Stay Fit and Healthy

It can be exceptionally easy to fall into bad habits while you are studying. Especially if you are studying an intense course such as an online MSN clinical nurse specialist degree. You might stay up late studying, eat unhealthy snacks and neglect exercise. You’re also probably going out drinking and eating fast food more often, which doesn’t help. However, it’s incredibly important to try and keep yourself fit and healthy. Not only will it keep you from getting sick and keep your energy levels up, setting up healthy habits now will help you in the future. It is especially important if you aim to become a clinical nurse specialist to be a good role model to others.


If you are on a tight budget, frozen vegetables are often a cheaper alternative. Try to cook from scratch wherever you can, and include lots of vegetables in your recipes. Cooking in bulk and freezing extra portions is a great way to save money and ensure you have a healthy, fast meal available for other days.

Healthy Snacks

While it’s tempting to snack on sweet treats to give yourself an energy boost, especially if you study late into the night as an online student from Regis, don’t. Fruit snacks, and meals like oatmeal and fish will give you a much better energy rush, without the come down afterwards.

Lots of Sleep

Drink Water

8 glasses a day is the recommended amount. Our bodies are made up of huge amounts of water, so it’s important to replenish. Try to drink a full glass with meals, and then carry a bottle around with you all day.

Keep Active

While workouts are great, keeping generally active is as important. Try to walk instead or driving or using public transport. Aim for 10,000 steps a day. Also, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and just keep moving whenever you can.


Your mental wellbeing is as important as physical, and can also suffer when you are busy and stressed out. Spending time talking to friends is a brilliant way of relieving stress and staying happy, which will help your focus and mood massively.


Have the odd day off, and do something for you. This might be visiting a spa, going out for a day shopping, or just taking a long bath with a good book and a glass of wine. Just take some time out to recharge your batteries.
